Stepwise college application process

Stepwise application process
Here is an easy-to-follow breakdown of how to apply to US colleges. The most convenient way is to sign up on the Common
Application, a platform through which nearly all major universities will receive your application.
To create a Common App account, you simply have to add your basic details, create login credentials, complete your registration process, and select “create account.”
Once you've created your account, you can go to the dashboard and start building your college list. You can add up to 20 universities using various filters like location, cost, and deadlines.
This section collects basic details like your name, address, phone number, family income, and education. It also asks about your ethnicity, race, and religion. For the language section, choose English as your primary language and list any additional languages you speak.
Provide details about your academics, including schools, colleges, grades, courses, GPA (if available), honors, and summer programs. List standardized tests taken, highest scores, and number of attempts. For “future plans,” if undecided, consider selecting a unique career path to help differentiate yourself in the application process.
The activity list is a brief summary of your top ten extracurriculars—clubs, leadership roles, internships, summer programs, artistic or athletic pursuits, and social impact efforts. Each entry should be under 100 characters, collectively narrating a clear, meaningful journey through high school.
The “written responses” let you share your personal journey and stand out with thoughtful reflection. In the “Additional Information” section, include extra activities not listed elsewhere or provide key context that helps admissions officers better understand your background and application.
Invite recommenders who can speak to your character, recent achievements, diverse strengths, peer contributions, and readiness for college. They’ll receive a link to submit recommendations. Complete the FERPA Release Authorization to allow your high school to send records on your behalf.
